FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene)

FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) is a fluorocarbon-based polymer. FEP coatings can provide a low co-efficient of friction or slipperiness (0.08 kinetic), are non-porous, non-stick, remain chemically inert, with good dielectric strength (1300v/mil) and are often used as bonding agents.

However, FEP is a fairly soft coating and has a lower operating temperature (400° F), although the substrate must endure an elevated cure temperature (700° F).

Precision Coating provides the benefit of many years of practical experience working with the chemistry of coatings on challenging applications within a multitude of industries. Precision Coating’s application specialists work with customers to develop and formulate a custom material to suit the specific application.

Technicians can then apply the resulting material to customer components. Additionally, Precision Coating is ISO certified and qualified to provide traceability as required.

FEP is used in a vast variety of applications including medical, aerospace, defense and industrial.

Key Characteristics of FEP:

  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Excellent Release Properties
  • Non-porous
  • High Chemical resistance
  • Good Dielectric Strength
